Obituary

A life well lived.
Our beautiful mother was born and raised in Brandon, and married Jack Shaw in 1943. She lived a very long, fulfilling life and was so loved.
Mom was not a fan of lengthy obituaries so we will try to keep it short. Not an easy task. How do you summarize 102 years?

Like many women of her generation, she was talented in so many ways. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, crocheter, painter, singer, and a baker of wonderful cookies. She went to work once we were in school, working in the early years at Eatons, Doigs, Waddells, CMHC, and the Brandon Sun. She retired from the Brandon School Division payroll department while in her fifties. Mom immediately started to volunteer at the Nearly New and kept it up for nearly forty years. In her retirement she and Dad enjoyed many summers relaxing at their cottage at Clear Lake and golfing at Sandy Lake.
Her last few years were spent at Fairview Personal Care Home where she was very happy. The staff were kind and loving and treated her just like family.

Mom's greatest gift of all was her love for and pride in her family. She is survived by three daughters; Janid Merino (Wally Johnson), Joan Boles (Jim, deceased), and Marilyn Hoad (Les). She was blessed with six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Mom outlived Dad by twenty-five years, and is survived by her sister Evelyn, and many nieces and nephews.

We will cherish our memories of this wonderful lady. We will think of her on this day "♫ AND MANY MORE ♫". (You can sing that part)

Her family will celebrate her life privately
