CAMPBELL: Irwin "Unc" Newton Campbell passed away at his residence, Central Park Lodge, on Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Irwin was born July 4, 1920 in Minto, Manitoba to Maude and Lisk Campbell. He lived on the family farm north of Riverside Park until 1931 when his family moved to the Park where they operated the store and dance hall. Irwin attended school at Riverside and received his high school by correspondence. In the winter months he trapped along the Souris River and enjoyed hunting. Irwin loved sports and played baseball with the Riverside team. In 1941 he joined the Army and went overseas with the Signals Corp. Upon his return from overseas, he worked at the Brandon Post Office and Camp Shilo. Irwin resided at Central Park Lodge for the last few years. Left to mourn his passing are his nieces and nephews: Allan, Melvin, Delbert, Jack, and Bill Mealy, Marlene Hunter, Clare and Grant Nesbitt, Edna Burke and Orville Shaw. He was predeceased by his parents Maude and Lisk; sisters Aleta Mealy in 1980, Inez Shaw in 2001, and Verna Nesbitt in 2004, and nephew Donald Shaw in 1998. Cremation has taken place.
