YONDA: On Tuesday, February 8, 2005 Irene Gladys Yonda passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Irene was born May 1, 1943 in Brandon to Andrew and Helen Yonda. She attended David Livingstone School, Earl Oxford and Brandon Collegiate. Irene was a secretary for the Greenwood and O'Kelly schools at Shilo for 25 years and the R.C.S.A. for 10 years. She retired early in 1995, at the age of 51. She enjoyed traveling, especially taking ocean cruises with the family, watching reruns of Perry Mason, Court TV, Archie Bunker on TV and having a coffee with the girls. Irene loved to garden; her house was her pride and joy. Irene was predeceased by: her parents Andrew and Helen Yonda; brothers Joe, John, and Stanley; sisters Sophie and Kathleen.
She is survived by: brother Walter (Mildred); sisters Mary (Carl) Rohlfs, Stella Dyck, Rose (Alex) Packan, and Jean (Wray) Gilbert. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, whom she really loved and enjoyed. They in turn thought she was the most wonderful aunt in the whole world. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, February 12, 2005 with Father Leo Fernandes of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Pallbearers were Garth Dyck, Robert Smith, Mark Stevenson, Randy Huebner, Keith Sowiak and Wayne Yonda. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
