Peacefully, on Sunday, January 7, 2018, Irene Helgason of Balsam Crescent, beloved wife of the late Helgi Helgason, passed away in Brandon. Irene is survived by her children Wayne, Faye, Jo-Ann and Sherri; precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date. My greatest happiness in life is that my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are all that they are meant to be. When I see all that they have become, I realize I have done a wonderful job, and that makes me so happy. Nothing can change the pride I feel as a mother. If I have done anything right in this life, it is that I have had some influence on the children who make me so proud. I have given birth to the future, and for that I will always be grateful. A hundred years from now...it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the lives of my children.
