CULLEN: Irene Marie Cullen (nee Bourgeois) passed away peacefully on Friday September 12, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 73 years. Irene was born in Sperling, Manitoba on July 2, 1930. She received her education in Sperling and Oak Lake, Manitoba. In 1947 Irene and her family moved to Brandon where she remained until her passing. In 1952, she married Ken Cullen and they settled into a wonderful life together in their home located in the East End until June of 1995, when they became residents of Parkview Seniors Complex Coop. Irene worked for A.E. McKenzie Seeds until 1956, when she quit to raise their two daughters, Sherry and Sandra. In later years she returned to the workforce as coordinator of the Y.W.C.A. Thrift Shop. Irene was a founding member of the East End Sunshine Club and was very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. Irene enjoyed painting at the Prairie Oasis Centre, participating in activities with the East End Sunshine Club as well as participating in several Seniors' Games. She also enjoyed bowling and helping at the East End Community Centre. Irene was predeceased by her husband Ken on August 2, 1995. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters Sherry (Steve) May, Sandra Cullen; and three grandsons that she loved very much, Ryan May, Shaun and Bradley Elliott. Irene is also survived by three sisters Louise Lenning, Isabelle Nicholson and Renie Shaw, as well as several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Friday, September 19, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
