DUNBAR: The death of I. Millen Dunbar, beloved husband of May (Higgins) Dunbar, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 9, 2004. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 2:00 pm. A private interment service will follow at the Brandon cemetery. DUNBAR: The death of Ira Millen Dunbar, beloved husband of May Dunbar, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 9, 2004. Millen was born on February 29, 1912 in North Portal, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm and was involved in the usual day- to- day operation of the farm, following his father as chores were done. Millen attended the Brittania Elementary School, and then moved to the Forbes School when it was built in the area. At the age of 18, he attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and graduated with a diploma in Agriculture. Millen returned to the family farm and worked with his father, and then along side his wife May, until retiring from the farm and moving to Brandon in November of 1974. He was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Fraternally, Millen was a member of the Portal Masonic Lodge No. 84, Portal ND, A.F. & A.M. achieving his Master Mason in Portal Masonic Lodge. He was a member for 58 years. Millen was also a founding member of the Estevan Shrine Club. During his years in Brandon, he was a member of Tweed Lodge, which amalgamated with Brandon Lodge No. 19; York Rite, Scottish Rite and member of the Brandon and District Shrine Club, Oriental Band. Millen was also a member of the Kem Temple, Grand Forks, ND. He had a life long love of music, nature, birds and antiques. Millen will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, May Dunbar (nee Higgens); and his five nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by: his parents, G. Alexander and Jeannie Dunbar and sisters, Emily Hanson and Gladys Mair. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, December 14, 2004. Urn Bearer was Evan Hanson and the Honour Guard was provided by the Masons from the Brandon Lodge No. 19. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
