Obituary

KISS: Ilona "Helen" Kiss (nee Horvath) passed away at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Friday, January 23, 2009. Helen was born in Kenyeri, Hungary on May 24, 1937. She was married in 1956 in her hometown to her sweetheart, Istvan "Steve" Kiss. That same year, the two left the country and took a voyage across the Atlantic to begin a new life in Canada. They landed in Halifax first then later moved on to Brandon where they resided for 45 plus years, raising three children. Times were often difficult but Helen and her husband always managed to get through it. Helen worked various jobs but she seemed to find her calling as a Nurse's Aide at the Brandon Mental Health Centre, working there for over thirty years. Helen enjoyed spending her time tending to her garden, knitting, embroidering and crocheting. But most importantly was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen is survived by: son, Steve Kiss; daughters, Kimberley (Sean) Collett and Rosmarie (Todd) Chastko; grandchildren: Carissa, Rebeka, and Morgan Kiss, Matthew Collett and Emily and Nolan Chastko. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve. Mom, grandma, we will miss you but we take comfort in knowing that you are in a better place. You will live forever in our hearts. Prayers were said at Memories Chapel, on Thursday, January 29, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 30, 2009. Celebrant was Fr. Joseph Choji. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3-824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
