Iliene Elizabeth Howitt
It is with sadness that the family of Iliene Elizabeth Howitt (nee Murphy) announces her passing, at the Assiniboine Centre, with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 18, 2004. Mom was born on August 22, 1915 in Brandon, Manitoba where she also received her education at McLaren and Earl Haig Schools. During these years she enjoyed acrobatic dancing and won many ribbons and a gold medal at the Western Manitoba Dancing Championships. Mom was very proud of this accomplishment and enjoyed talking about it to her family. She was a very strong independent woman who left behind a legacy of strong will, courage and love. She worked at the Brandon Sanatorium and McKenzie Seeds. An avid reader, she also enjoyed vegetable gardening, sewing by hand, playing cards and fishing. Great times were had when she took her grandchildren to the cabin at Ditch Lake. Mom will be forever loved and remembered by: her daughters Diane (Don) Byers of Ditch Lake, MB, Mimi (Glen) Hunter of Brandon, MB and son-in-law Dave Siskewich of Brandon, MB. Grandma will also be sadly missed by: her grandchildren, Debra (Barry) Tominski of Winnipeg, MB, Delene (Chris) Emick of the United States, Mark (Suzette) Hunter of Madsen, ON, Dean Hunter and Jeff (Dena) Hunter, all of Brandon, MB. She is also survived by: nine great grandsons, Devin and Travis Tominski, Joshua, Zachary and Matthew Emick, Brock, Patrick and Clinton Hunter, Brett Hunter Kowalchuk and his mother, Pat Kowalchuk of Brandon, MB. Mom is also survived by: her sisters, May Town and Pat (Tom) Curtis. She was predeceased by: her husband Ken; both parents; sisters Peggy Gibson and Deanie Thomas; brothers Mickey Pearce and Sonny Murphy. Mom will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. At her request cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Interment of cremated remains was held in the Brandon Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.Memorials
