CLARK: It is with great sadness the family of Ida Edith Clark (nee Melvin) announce her passing, which occurred peacefully at her residence at Rideau Park Personal Care Home on Thursday, October 14, 2004. Ida was born on April 24, 1925 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, the only child of May and James Melvin. She spent her early childhood and school years in Broadview, Saskatchewan and spent girlhood summers in Craik, Saskatchewan with her (namesake) aunt Ida and uncle Alex. After high school she moved to Regina to attend Business College where she studied to become a secretary. After her graduation, she got a job at Tibbets Electric in Regina. While working there she met Henry (Harry) Faulder Clark. In June, 1950 Ida and Harry married. Their eldest son, Melvin Douglas was born in 1953. In 1956, Ida and Harry moved to Brandon where Harry and partner Fred McCrae opened Clark's Electric. During these years, Ida used her skills to help Harry and Fred with the success of the business. In 1958 their second son, Darryl James was born. When her children where young, Ida was a devoted mother and was a cub scout leader. Ida was a very artistic person who enjoyed painting, petitpoint, making wire jewelry and ceramics. She was a very musical person who excelled at playing piano and entertained at the many parties she and Harry had and attended as well as bowling and family functions. Ida also enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Much too soon, Harry passed away in 1973. Sadly, Ida's experience with depression began. The socially active lady began to fade and over the next few years, Ida's illness made it necessary for her to go to live at Rideau Park Personal Care Home where she lived until her death. Over the years, Ida took part in and enjoyed the many activities at Rideau including church services, arts and crafts, music and seasonal celebrations. She especially enjoyed shopping outings and trips to Dairy Queen. As long as possible, Ida was a welcome and active participant in all events at Rideau Park. Ida had a gentle, caring and loving nature that she shared with all around her. Ida will be missed by her sons Mel (Deb) and Darryl (Laurie); granddaughters Jacqueline and Brittinee; cousin Maxine (Don); many nieces and nephews and many friends and dedicated caregivers at Rideau. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry and her parents May and James. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, October 18, 2004. Rev. John Dolloff of St. Mary's Anglican Church officiated. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ida to Rideau Park Personal Care Home, 525 Victoria Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 6S9. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Mel and Darryl and their families would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the loving care and friendship that everyone at Rideau Park gave to Ida through the years. God Bless you all.
