BLAIR: Herbert "Bert" Harold Blair, husband of the late Pearl Blair passed away peacefully at his residence in East-View Lodge in Neepawa on Monday, July 19, 2004. Dad was born on January 10, 1920 in Miami, Manitoba. He and Mom were married for 62 years, and he once again will join her. Dad served overseas from 1942-1945 and when he returned home he farmed for a few years before going to work for the CPR in 1947, where he remained until his retirement in 1979. Following retirement he and Mom were able to enjoy their time by going camping, gardening and visiting with family and friends. His biggest joy since Mom's passing has been his children and grandchildren and being able to still beat them in a game of cribbage or taking their money in a game of "31". Left to mourn his passing are: his children, Donna (Gordon) Legge of Neepawa, MB, Lawrence (Bonnie) of Killarney, MB and Jo-Anne (Dwight) Edwards of Brandon; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Dad will always be remembered for the twinkle in his blue eyes when he was trying to put something over on his family or friends. The man behind the sparkling, mischievous eyes will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed for his humour and his bright and sunny smile. The Graveside Service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Legion Padre Rev. Michael Skliros will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Bert to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 5B7.
