WELLS: Henry "Harry" Thomas Charles Wells, of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Sunday, December 16, 2007. Harry was born the eldest son and second child of Annie and Charles Wells in Ninga, Manitoba on October 15, 1924. He was raised on the family farm at Wakopa, Manitoba with his five siblings and attended Henderson School during his early years. He then went to work to help support the family after his parent's health failed. The majority of his working life was spent in the employ of Canadian National Railway, until he was forced into early retirement due to health issues in 1977. Harry was an avid outdoorsman (hunter, fisherman, and trapper) who loved the wilderness and wildlife. He enjoyed camping and the many trips with his wife of 55 years, Mabel and daughters Darlene, Linda, Tanise, Penny and Tammy. They traveled across Canada, throughout the US, to England and France. Harry was a lifelong member of the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way, A.N. & A.F. and the Forresters. He enjoyed a good game of cards, a good joke, and an evening of socializing with his many friends and family. If a man can be judged by the number of good friends he leaves behind, then Harry was a fine man, wealthy beyond measure. He is survived by his loving wife Mabel (nee Hudson); beloved daughters: Darlene Hay of Burlington, Ontario, Linda (Floyd) Harkness of Calgary, Alberta, Penny Wilson of Calgary, Alberta, Tammy (Mark) Van Loo of Brandon; son-in-law Jerry Bage of Rorketon, Manitoba; brother George Wells of Brandon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his third daughter, Tanise; his parents and four sisters. The Ceremony to Celebrate Harry's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, December 21, 2007. Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church officiated. Pallbearers were Mark Hominick, Glen Green, Bill Henry, Norman Hogarth, Dean Anderson and Doug Wells. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 - 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 5B7 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, B-727-10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4G7.
