BURTON: The death of Henry Morris "Harry" Burton, beloved husband of Mable, dear father to Chuck, occurred peacefully at his residence in Brandon on Thursday, January 13, 2005. Harry was born on February 18, 1913, the only son of Charles and Rose Burton, in Dilwyn, Herfordshire, England. He came to Canada at the age of 17 years with dreams of becoming a farmer. He was fortunate to meet the Lewis Family in the Roland area and farmed for them for several years. When WWII broke out, Harry enlisted in the Air Force and was trained as an aircraft mechanic. He was then posted overseas in England. At the end of the war, he returned to Canada and continued farming. In July of 1959, he met the love of his life, Mable Faulkner and they were married in June of 1960. Their only son, Charles was born in April of 1961 and the three of them moved to Brandon that fall. While in Brandon Harry worked for Canada Post until his retirement. He loved gardening and operated a little greenhouse in his backyard that provided all they needed come planting time. Harry enjoyed travelling with his family and they made several trips overseas, traveled coast to coast in Canada, to the US and Alaska. Harry was faithful to his church and served in many capacities over the years. He was a quiet man that loved his family dearly and had a wonderful relationship with them. Harry and his family were very thankful that he could be active both mentally and physically until the end. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Mable; son, Chuck (Debbie) and special grandson, Christopher; sisters-in-law, Charlene Scott of Winkler and Ruby Gill of Edmonton, brother-in-law, Bruce (Terry) Scott of Morden; and sister-in-law, Adeline Scott of Winnipeg. Harry will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, the Lewis family and his cousins in England. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Charles Burton; sister Winnie Burton; and brother-in-law, Elgin Scott. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Bethel Christian Assembly on Monday, January 17, 2005. Pastor Mike Davis officiated. Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
