RINGLAND: The death of Helene Nettie Joyce Ringland, of Rapid City, beloved wife of Laurie, occurred at the Assiniboine Centre on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Funeral arrangements are pending with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

RINGLAND: Helene Nettie Joyce Ringland (nee Coyle), age 55, lost her battle with cancer in the early morning hours on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Left to celebrate her life is her husband and best friend of thirty-five years, Laurie James Ringland; daughter Kimberly Joanne (Stephen) Rutherford; son Robert James (Lisa) Ringland; son Corey Brian (Della) Burkitt. Proud grandmother of Joshua and Daniel Rutherford, Jade and Jacob Ringland and Christian and Hope Burkitt. Sisters: Ruby (John), Trudy (Warren), Edith; brothers Oscar (Myrna), Curtis (Linda), Charles (Linda), Ken (Helen); mother-in-law Margaret Ringland; sisters-in-law Betty Ann, Verlye, Beverly, Sherrill (Clive), Lois (Eric), Lindee (Norman), Melodee (Steve), Joyce (Neil), Jackie, Patti Dee (Dave); brothers-in-law Bill (Linda), Gary (Jackie) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Helene was predeceased by her parents George and Katherine Coyle (nee Wolfe); brothers John, Vernon, and Lloyd; father-in-law William "Jack" Ringland; sisters-in-law Edna Coyle and Nikki Ringland; brothers-in-law John Moos, William Bertrand, William Thompson, Ron Joyce; niece Linda Coyle and special cousin Betty Braun. Helene attended elementary and high school in Morden, Manitoba. She went to Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia where she received her diploma in ECS/Special Needs. She took Pharmacy Technician by correspondence and received her diploma while living in Rapid City. As a teenager, she belonged to CGIT in the United Church. She belonged to the Family Support Centre in Calgary for the children and women whose parents/spouses were overseas in Bosnia. Helene worked in many homes for special needs children on a one on one basis. While being posted in Penhold, she worked in the Red Deer Institution. Helene was an avid crafter in knitting, crocheting, beading, quilting, tole painting, and anything else she set her mind to. She also liked to bake and would enter her crafts and baking in the Rapid City and River Agricultural Fairs in which she took many prizes. Helene also liked to hike and cross country ski. A time of viewing will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Friday, December 21, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Ceremony to Celebrate Helene's Life will be held at Rapid City United Church on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Barbara Jardine will officiate. Ushers are nephews Jonathan and Adam Robinson, John Dyck and niece Linda Sobering. Eulogy will be given by Stephen Rutherford. Bible reading by niece Tammy Bertrand. Pallbearers are nephews Bryan Waters, Scott and Dallas Smith, Richard Goodwin, nieces Shelley Boulton and Sherri Wallers. Interment will take place in the Rapid City Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Rapid City Legion. Flowers are gratefully declined. Thanks to all the ladies at Cancer Care, Dr. E. Moller, Dr. duPlooy, the nurses at Day treatment and all the staff on 3A Palliative Care at the Assiniboine Centre.
