Obituary

TAYLOR: The death of Helen Taylor of Dinsdale Home, formerly of Hamiota and widow of Percy Taylor occurred in Brandon on Sunday, March 19, 2000. Helen was born in Garland, Manitoba on October 1, 1915 to parents Dimetro and Anna Shemeluk. She grew up on the home farm in Garland. Helen received her education in Garland and Ethelbert, Manitoba. She moved to Hamiota at the age of 17 to work, where she met Percy and later they were wed. Helen spent most of her life as a homemaker and was very proud of her two sons. She was always very active in the community and involved in volunteer work. In 1973, she moved to Brandon where she remained active and made many more good friends. Helen was a member of Eastern Star and U.C.W. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, church, curling, music, sewing and craftwork. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Helen is survived by her son Blair (special friend Rhonda); grandchildren Cara and Curtis; brothers: Harry Shemeluk of Langley, BC, Mike (Elsie) Shemeluk of Toronto, ON, and Roman (Elsie) Shemeluk of Dauphin, Manitoba; and sister Ann Hunt of Edmonton, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Percy in 1969; son Barry in 1993; sisters: Mary, Whinney, Doris, Nellie, Pearl and brothers Bill and John. The funeral ceremony was held at Memories Chapel in Brandon on Thursday, March 23, 2000. Capt. Graham Brown of Dinsdale Home officiated. A graveside ceremony was held at the Hamiota Cemetery, Thursday afternoon.
