It is with deep sadness and sorrow, the family of Hedwig (Heddy) Auguste Mueller announce her passing on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in the Palliative Care unit. She passed away peacefully with family and close friends by her side.
Born on April 24, 1946, in Duingen Germany, mom grew up in Germany and moved to the USA to start a new life when she was just 17 years old with her mom, brothers and sister. When she was 20 years old, she came to live in Canada. She lived for years on a farm near Rapid City. In 1982, she moved into Brandon and lived here for the remainder of her life.
Heddy finished her Grade 11 schooling in Germany and started working when she was only 13 years old.
Heddy worked for over 50 years at a few different Sewing Factories, The BMHC and finally the Westman Laundry at the BRHC where she retired from in 2011. She had a passion for sewing and she was a dedicated seamstress all her life.
Through the years, mom belonged to numerous organizations. She was a Brownie and Guide leader for the Girl Guides of Canada, she was on the Fuzzy Bears Board of Directors, and she was a leader for a 4H club, which she taught sewing. She was on the Redeemer Lutheran Church Council as a President and just a committee member and she was part of the Redeemer Lutheran Ladies and the Bible Study group. She was on the Spruce Woods Housing Coop Board of Directors. She had a passion to always try new things, so she sold Amway for several years as well as a side business.
Mom had many interests and passions. She loved to go for walks. She went walking whenever and wherever she could. Whether it would be just taking our dogs for walks or getting together with a friend, she was always up to just go for a walk. She even went for a lot of walks with her daughter and family. She loved to garden too. She loved flowers, pink roses especially. Travelling was a big part of her life too. She loved to take trips to Wisconsin where all our family lived. She has travelled to quite a few different places in Canada, USA and Germany. Family and friends brought mom so much joy, love and happiness, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherished by her greatest joys, her daughter and son in law and her grandson and granddaughter.
Heddy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Stephanie (Jeremy) Grasby, grandchildren Jaiden and Savanna Grasby, Sisters in law Fiona Mueller and Linda Mueller, along with extended family, nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Heddy was predeceased by her Father Heinrich Muller, Mother Stefanie Hamnett and Stepfather Harold Hamnett, Half Brother Horst Risse, Brothers Heinz Mueller, and Adam Mueller and sister Stephanie Ertman.
Cremation has taken place based on mom's wishes, and the family will cherish her memory privately with a celebration of life in summer of 2026.
Donations can be made in memory of Heddy to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or a Charity of choice.
