The death of Hazel Westwood, widow of Arthur Westwood, occurred at her residence, Fairview Home on Saturday, August 2, 2003. Hazel was born on March 10, 1914 near Strathclair, Manitoba one of six children born to John Wesley "Wes" and Edith Mae (Morrison) Gamey. Hazel received her education to Grade Eleven at Strathclair. She then attended Winnipeg Bible Institute and graduated on April 30, 1937 in the three- year course on Christian Education. Hazel returned to Strathclair and was there during the illness and death of her parents. She then spent some years in Brandon, working and also involved with the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Hazel married Arthur Gregory Westwood of Rapid City on June 24, 1948. They farmed at SW 4- 14 -19 and raised their three children, Arlene Hazel, Allan Arthur and Murray Laurence. They attended the Covenant Church in Minnedosa where Hazel taught Sunday school and volunteered at Summer Bible Camp. Arthur and Hazel moved to Minnedosa in 1981. They resided there until Hazel and then Arthur moved to a care home in Brandon. Arthur passed away on September 24, 1996. Hazel was also predeceased by; her infant daughter Sharon, and son Laurence and by her two brothers, Austin Gamey and Laurence Gamey. She leaves her daughter Arlene Lew, son Allan (Lois) and daughter-in-law, Sharon Westwood. There are seven grandchildren; Stefan, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Mark, Curtis, Kattia and Amanda. Hazel is also survived by her sisters; Beatrice McCullough, Ruth Fraser and Irene Fallow. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, August 7, 2003. Pastor Craig Gibbs officiated.
