MCEACHEN: Hattie Mary-Jane passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, September 18, 2000. Mom was born on July 22, 1913. Mom and Dad farmed in Arcola, Saskatchewan and Nesbitt, Manitoba prior to moving to Brandon. Mom worked for the Department of Defense during the war, at McCallum Nursing Home and McKenzie Seeds. She retired in 1978. Mom loved to garden, knit, crochet and bake. Mom always had a cup of tea ready for family, friends and neighbors, she enjoyed company. They spent many summers camping around Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and at the cottage in Clear Lake. Hattie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Hattie is survived by her children; Lois Carkener and Gordon McEachen of Brandon, Melvin and Mavis McEachen of Onanole, and Joan and Barry Lapointe of Lantzville, B.C., six grandchildren, 10 great granchildren and one great, great grandchild, two sisters, Birdeen Taylor and Gladys Pearson of Brandon and one brother, Joe Tuffnell of Arcola, Saskatchewan, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Earl McEachen in May 1993, also by her parents William and Florence Tuffnell, three brothers, Earl, Robert and Meryle, three sisters, Laura Dehan, Olive Simmons and Lottie Lawson and son-in-law Robert Carkener. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 361 Russell Street and Louise Avenue East. Rev. John Van Vliet officiating. Interment will follow in Arcola Cemetery, Arcola, Sasktchewan at 2:00 p.m., Central Standard Time.
