SHORLAND: Harry Norman Shorland passed away peacefully with his family at his side, at Fairview Home on Friday, September 9, 2005. In 1940, Harry married Rose Alleyn "Lena" Finley. He is survived by: his son, Norman (Betty) Shorland of Winnipeg; daughters, May (Tom) Knight of Brandon and Evelyn Mannall of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hayes of Lethbridge and Violet Verey of Selkirk; sister-in-law, Evelyn Shorland of Saskatoon as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Mr. Alton Mose will officiate. Harry was born in Grandview, MB to Charles and Esther Shorland on August 26, 1908. He moved to the Brandon area in the late 1930's and worked on Charlie Hamilton's farm. He then worked in Brandon for Cumming & Dobbie, Currie's Manufacturing and Wade & Sons and lastly North American Lumber from which he retired in 1973. In 1940, Harry married Rose Alleyn "Lena" Finley. Harry is survived by: his son, Norman (Betty) Shorland of Winnipeg; daughters, May (Tom) Knight of Brandon and Evelyn Mannall of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hayes of Lethbridge and Violet Verey of Selkirk; sister-in-law, Evelyn Shorland of Saskatoon as well as many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Lena; son-in-law, John Mannall; brothers, Ted (Alice), Fred (Mary) and George. The family wish to express their appreciation to the staff at Fairview Home for their kindness and care of Grandpa for the past 4 + years.
