BRIGGS: It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Gwenneth Diana Briggs (nee Jones) at her residence, Central Park Lodge, on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. Gwen was born November 25, 1920, the second child of Joseph and Gwendolyn Jones of Brookdale, Manitoba. In 1941 she married George Briggs in Thunder Bay, Ontario before moving to Toronto where she was employed with the Department of Highways of Ontario. She retired from there in 1985. She was predeceased by her husband in 1970; her parents; sister Audrey and brothers Lewis and Frank. Gwen is survived by her brother Reginald (Grace); sisters Edna (Mel) Hammond and Thelma Grasby; sisters-in-law Gladys Welbourne and Peggy Jones, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen travelled extensively after her retirement and was able to show many of her slides of her trips to the residents at Central Park. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Central Park Lodge for their kindness and support to Gwen in the ten years she has been a resident.
