Obituary

MARVIN: It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Gwendolyn Mabel Marvin (nee Meadows) on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the age of 93 years. Gwen passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre after a brief illness.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children: Marilyn and Garry Pawluck, David and Gail Marvin, Douglas and Judy Marvin, Lynda and Larrie Kidd, and Twylla and Jon Burton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tricia and Dan Turnbull (Tayelyn, Finn, Iszac), Rick Pawluck (Willow, Suzanna), Nathan and Chelsea Pawluck (Easton, Ezra), Cyrena and Tim McLachlan (Davis, Josie), Steven and Loni Marvin (William, Oliver, Charlie, Henry), Luke and Kristina Marvin (Arlo, Rowan), Derek and Brittany Marvin (Beau, Benji), Kristy and Mark Agnew (Mila, Ellie), Jeremy Marvin and Kellie Baker, Michael and Sheri Kidd (Dustin, Devin, Deklin, Hailey), Fariya Kidd (Ayden), Carla Burton and Carly Sinclair, Andrew Burton and Emily Krutzelmann, and Kate and Blair Opperman (Ashton, Lux); her cousin Margaret Whiting, who was like a sister to her; and Cathie and Minty Caron, Robyn and Derek Barry (McKenna, Eberlee). Gwen was predeceased by her husband Richard Marvin and her grandson Kevin Kidd.

Gwen was born in Brandon on February 3, 1928. Her father passed away at the age of 26 years, so it was just her and her mother for many years. Gwen married Richie on October 2, 1948 and they raised five children. They ran a mixed dairy and grain farm, which they both worked hard at until they retired and moved to Brandon.

Gwen loved to be busy cooking, gardening, knitting, reading, and back in the day driving the school bus. She loved numbers, and could do math so fast in her head. No one ever shortchanged her! She would check every receipt, making sure everything was correct. She loved to bake, especially her famous chocolate cake.

Gwen loved to spend time with her family. She was the happiest when the whole family got together, and never wanted that time to end. She loved to laugh, talk about funny incidents, and listen to other stories. She would always have us all in stitches laughing. Her family was her life, and we loved her to pieces.

Gwen and Richie did some travelling abroad, but enjoyed spending winters in Texas where they made many lasting friendships. Gwen was a witty, bright and sharp lady right until the end. We will all miss her.

A private family service will be held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church and Gwen will be laid to rest at St. George's Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Gwen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
