CHRIST: Sadly, the Egilsson family wishes to announce the death of their sister and Aunt Runa (Gudrun) Christ of Central Park Lodge on Wednesday, August 2, 2000. Runa was born March 7, 1906 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Egil and Sigurbjorg Egilsson. The family moved to Brandon where Runa attended King George School and St. Michael's Academy. On October 10, 1942 she married Joseph Christ. They lived in Ochre River where they owned a hardward store. Runa enjoyed travelling to Australia, Iceland, and California. She belonged to an art group and the Icelandic Society. Playing the organ, Bridge, as well as time spent with friends gave her many hours of enjoyment. Runa also attended Central United Church. Her philosophy could be summed up in the words "live life and love God". She was dearly loved by many friends. Family was very important to Runa and she will be lovingly remembered by her brothers: Ari and Albert (Grace) Egilsson of Brandon, Manitoba, and Einar (Anne) Egilsson of Woodstock, Ontario; and her sisters: Margaret Wirth of Linden, Washington, Georgina (Terry) Wade of Melbourne, Australia and Ellen (Grant) Sutherland of Abbotsford, British Columbia. Her nieces and nephews will also cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; parents Egil and Sigurbjorg; brother Albert Lawrence (age 7); and sister Kathleen Birkenshaw. Memorial Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street N, on Friday, August 11, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gordon Stevenson of Central United Church officiating.
