Greg Blackmon

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory Wade Blackmon on July 13, 2026, age 67.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Blackmon, married 33 years, and his parents, Raymond and Constance Blackmon.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Charles, Breanna (Levi), and Myles (Kelsey); grandson, Miller; stepson, Steven (Lisa); granddaughters, Taylor and Ashley; siblings, Frances, Anita (Bruce), Wes (Maureen), Corry, and Kevin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Greg was born on June 20, 1959, and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. In his younger years, he worked in the mines and small engine shops before starting a family and later training as an Instrumentation Technician.

In many ways, Greg seemed as though he should have been born 50 years earlier. He had a deep appreciation for old things and was a great collector of artifacts, drawn to the history and stories they carried. He had a lifelong passion for old cars and motorcycles and could often be found working on one project or another.

Greg loved the land and the great outdoors. He spent time learning about how to live off and alongside the land. He loved fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed sharing those experiences with his children and grandchildren.

After purchasing his farm near Alexander, Greg embraced the kind of life that suited him. He took great pride in his vegetable garden, caring for his chickens and being as self-sufficient as he could. He was especially proud of making his own maple syrup and treasured the time he and Barb spent together making jams and jellies. He loved his land, his garden and, above all, his family.

Greg enjoyed going to concerts and especially loved bands such as April Wine and Triumph. Those who knew him well will remember his very quiet, quick sense of humour. You had to be listening closely to catch it, but when you did, it was unmistakably Greg. To his friends and coworkers, he was affectionately known as “Blackie.”

Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A private graveside service will take place for close family. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will take place at Greg’s farm on September 5, 2026 for friends and family to come together to share memories and honour his life. All who knew Greg are welcome to attend. Please contact Breanna Blackmon at 780-937-5199 for details.
