STELMACK: Gordon Patrick "Pat" Stelmack passed away surrounded by his family, on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Pat was born on March 17, 1948 in Brandon, Manitoba. He was the oldest son of Walter and Gladys (Cooper) Stelmack. Pat spent his early years in Brandon, attending school at David Livingstone School. In 1963, the family moved to an acreage near Rapid City where he continued his education at Minnedosa and Forrest. Pat and Faye (nee Durnin) left for the Maritimes in the fall of 1968 and on to Newfoundland in 1969 where they became involved in the commercial fishery on the Atlantic near Trinity, Newfoundland. Ten years later they returned to Manitoba and settled on the family acreage. Pat had many and varied interest. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting, fishing, sledding and quading. He spent many hours tending his garden and yard. Reading was something he enjoyed as well. Music was always a big part of his life, sharing that gift with family and friends. Pat was a fantastic cook and over the years he and Faye hosted many BBQ's in the park like setting of their yard. For the past 26 years, Pat was involved with the Moving Industry, working for 13 years at Howard's Van and Storage, then going on to own and operate Assiniboine Moving and Storage. He belonged to several local organizations and devoted many volunteer hours. Through these activities he met so many people who became lifelong friends. Pat has been a lay pastor with The Worldwide Church of God for the past 17 years. Pat was devoted to his wife Faye. He is survived by, in his immediate family, his wife Faye; his mother Gladys Stelmack; sister Joyce Wiltsey; brother Ron (Tracy) Stelmack; sister Dianne (Ross) Stilborn. He will be greatly missed by his numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. Pat was predeceased by his father, Walter and sister, Verna Friestad. The Funeral Service will be held at Central United Church, 327 8th Street, on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Trevor Cherry, Pastor Alan Redmond, and Pastor Mike Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
