LOVERING: Rev. G. Lloyd Lovering passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Assiniboine Centre after a lengthy illness. Surviving him is his wife of 56 years, Marion; four children Mary (Murray) Carr of Forrest, MB, Peter (Donna) Lovering of Taber, AB, Ruth (Lloyd) Griffith of Kindersley, SK and John (Melodee) Lovering of Leamington, ON. Lloyd is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; his sister Ruth Preston; sister-in-law Joan Lovering and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Mary Lovering and his brother, Kerry. Lloyd was born in Coldwater, ON on September 10, 1920 and grew up in the same Toronto neighbourhood as his future wife, Marion. During the Depression, he left school to support his family. He joined the RCAF in 1941, taking his training in Rivers (which inspired him to want to live on the Prairies). He was posted in England until 1945, and is still a Legionnaire. After the war he attended Bible School, answering the call to ministry. He married Marion Cunningham in 1947, and lived in various small communities in Ontario. In 1953, he attended Queen's University in Kingston, graduated in 1958 and was ordained as a United Church minister. In 1961, he moved his young family to Saskatchewan, and settled in southwestern Manitoba in 1970. He came to Central United Church in 1978 and has been in Brandon since. The Funeral Service will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street on Monday, August 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Lloyd to the Central United Church Memorial Fund, 327-8th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 3X5.
