JOHNSTON: Gloria Annis Johnston (nee Sturko) passed away peacefully on September 4, 2007. Gloria was born to John and Pauline Sturko on May 15, 1931 in Brandon, Manitoba where she was later educated in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Canora, Saskatchewan, Gladstone, Manitoba, Brandon General Hospital and McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay. On July 1, 1961 she married Morris G. Johnston from Kaleida-Manitou area. They lived in various cities until his retirement and settled in Brandon. Gloria will be dearly missed by her husband of 46 years, Morris; sisters Anne Schneider of Abbotsford, British Columbia and Irene McRae of Thunder Bay, Ontario; nephew Richard McRae and family from Calgary, Alberta; niece Elyse McRae of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA; two sisters-in-law Hellen Checkley of Manitou, Manitoba and Ardith Johnston of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Following cremation, a graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on September 15, 2007. Rev. David Cathcart officiated.
