Obituary

The death of Glen Carl Kissock, beloved husband of "Dean" occurred peacefully in Brandon on Monday, March 8, 2004. According to Glen's wishes a private ceremony will be held at a later date. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Glen to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Complete obituary information will follow. The death of Glen Carl Kissock, beloved husband of "Dean" occurred peacefully in Brandon on Monday, March 8, 2004. Glen was born in Carberry, Manitoba on April 23, 1930, the son of John and Mina Kissock. He received his education in Carberry and following school; he was employed by Manitoba Telephone System. He married Adalene Cole on October 23, 1953 and together they raised three children, Bernice, Brian and Brent. They moved throughout the province while he worked for MTS from May 1947 to May 1985, retiring after 38 years, as a Manager in the Construction and Service Departments. He served as a Councillor for the R.M. of Cornwallis from 1986-1991, serving as Deputy Reeve for three years. Glen was a founding member of the Riverview Curling Club and the Shriner's Pipes and Drums and volunteered at the Commonwealth Air Museum. He was also involved with the Mason Cancer Van driving patients to and from Winnipeg for cancer treatments. Glen enjoyed being a Legion and Pioneer Member, golfing at Glenlea, hockey and curling and working around his home and helping his children with their homes. Glen and Dean recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He loved his family and friends dearly, they were very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Glen was predeceased by his mother, Mina in 1977; and father, John in 1982; and two infant brothers, Alex and William Kissock. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Adalene "Dean"; daughter, Bernice Mitchell; sons, Brian (Lou Ann) and Brent. Glen will also be dearly missed by his five grandchildren, Kevin (Jen) Gudz, Kori (Darryl) Oliver, Jason and Jenna Kissock and Tim Mitchell; his mother-in-law, Lola Cole of Brandon; sister, Evelyn (Ike) Thompson of Claresholm, Alberta and brothers, Jack (Jean) Kissock of Portage, Allan (Rosemary) and Bob (Charlotte) Kissock of Brandon; brother-in-law, Mydren Cole of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
