Georges Rey passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Killarney Hospital.
Georges was born in St. Claude, MB to the late Joseph and Juliette Rey on May 17, 1939, Georges was the youngest of 13 children.
He completed his education in St. Claude and left the family farm at a young age to pursue a career in construction. Starting with Dominion Bridge, he worked across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. After years of traveling and hard work, Georges embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, purchasing Brandon Crane as well as Fork Lift and Trailer Rentals, which became known as Geo. Rey – Crane & Rigging Co. Ltd. He later transitioned out of crane operations to focus on the rental business. Eventually, Georges turned his expertise toward consulting, working closely with companies like Simplot Canada.
Georges is a lifetime member of Iron workers Local Union #728 of Winnipeg.
Besides working, one of his highlights was going fishing and receiving his Master Anglers Award which is kept above his desk. Also liked to collect Antiques, hockey cards, baseball cards and stamps which kept him busy. Many winters he spent in Texas where there was no snow there he kept busy helping his neighbors.
Georges leaves to cherish his memory his wife Iris, five children Robert (Deb), Michael (Kim), Daniel of Nanaimo, BC, Timothy (Connie) and daughter Cindy (Dave Redford); 3 stepsons David Wilken of Winnipeg, Gordon Wilken (Brenda) of B.C., and Devin Wilken of Edmonton; plus, sixteen grandchildren.
Georges was predeceased 1988 by his first wife Evelyn Magne.
The family will cherish Georges memory privately.
