WANSTALL: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George Henry Wanstall at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, November 4, 2006. George was born the third eldest child of Ken and Ada Wanstall on March 30, 1916. He was born, raised and educated in Wawanesa, Manitoba. George worked on farms around Wawanesa at an early age before taking jobs in Churchill, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1941, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in the 10th Infantry Brigade 4th Division-serving in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. After his discharge in 1945, George was employed by the Manitoba Telephone System for more than 30 years. He loved golfing, bowling and gardening and did these until health issues made him stop. Later in life, on January 23, 1999, George was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he became a very active and integral part of the Oak Park congregation. His belief in the promise at Rev. 21:4 was steadfast. George was a very special person, very kind and thoughtful to family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by: his sister, Emily (George) Brown of Wawanesa; nieces, Mary, Verna, Joyce, Barbara and Jackie; nephew, Albert. There are numerous great nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Predeceasing George were his parents, Ken and Ada; brothers, Alf, John, Joe, Teddy and Arthur; sisters, Florence and Lily. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. Mr. Clarence Cooper officiated. All attending the service were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at the family plot in the Wawanesa Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of George to a charity of choice.
