KLAPP: George Frederick Klapp, born, October 17, 1919, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon Regional Health Centre. George is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor; daughter Judith Klapp of Brandon; daughter Betty (Dennis) Deegan of Calgary, Alberta; son Fred (Darcie) Klapp of Kelowna, British Columbia. Celebration of George's Life will be held at a later date. Complete obituary information will follow. KLAPP: George Frederick Klapp. Born October 17, 1919 in McCreary, Manitoba passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2009, with his wife by his side, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. George attended Bracken, Laurier and Mountain Eve Schools. During World War Two, he served in Canada and overseas with the Fourth Armoured Division. While serving in Germany in 1944, he was awarded the Commander-In-Chief Certificate for Gallantry on Active Service. Following his discharge from the army in February 1946, he returned to McCreary to take over the family farm. George married Eleanor M. Scutt in October 1947. In 1958, George joined the Warden Service for Parks Canada. He served in Gilbert Plains, Rossburn, Lake Audy, Clear Lake and South Lake Warden Service. In 1979, after twenty-five years, he and Eleanor retired to Brandon. George is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor; daughter Judith of Brandon, daughter Betty (Dennis) of Calgary, Alberta and son, Fred (Darcie) of Kelowna, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. He is also survived by two sisters: Connie Pettitt of Neepawa, Manitoba, and Millie King of Winnipeg, Manitoba; sisters-in-law Ellie Klapp, McCreary, Manitoba, Eva (Norma) Law of McCreary and brother-in-law Jim (Marianne) Scutt of Red Deer, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private family celebration of George's life will be held at a later date at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
