On October 31st, 2025, Mr Gbekeleoluwa Olusesan Adedoyin of Okelewo, Ibara, Abeokuta passed away peacefully in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada with his wife, Children and Grandchildren around.
He was born September 12, 1946 to the family of Chief Samuel Oladunjoye Adedoyin and Chief Mrs Victoria Oluyomi Adedoyin (Nee Soyoye) in Abeokuta, Ogun State where he grew up and attended Owu Baptist day School and Baptist Boys High School (BBHS). He entered into the employment of Lagos City Council (Lagos State Government) on August 05,1968 and was sponsored for his tertiary education attending the School of Health Technology, Yaba, Lagos State for Royal Society of health Diploma from August 1968 to August 1971. He also attended University of Ibadan, Oyo State,Nigeria for his Advanced Diploma in Health from 1976 - 1977.
He worked meritoriously for Lagos State Government for 35 years and retired gracefully on August 5, 2003 reaching the pinnacle of his Career as the Apex Environmental Health officer in Lagos State. He also lectured in the School of Nursing, Lagos University Teaching Hospital ( LUTH), Lagos, Nigeria.
As a practising Christian, he was an active member of the Anglican Communion belonging to his home church- St. Andrews Anglican Church, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Chapel of the Healing Cross, Idi-Ararba, Surulere, Lagos. He was a active member of the Community Resident Association in Ijegun, Alimosho area where he lived.
Mr Gbeke as his fondly called was happily married to Mrs Grace Agboola Adedoyin (Nee Olaosebikan) and blessed with Children and Grandchildren. He lived a modest, virtuous and selfless life wanting to impact the people around him. An avid reader, he invested fortunes in books and took particular interest in grooming younger ones. He was a role model to his children, family, neighbours and people in general and an unrepentant advocate for healthy living habits and lifestyle which he himself personified.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, silblings, nephew, nieces ,cousins and friends who will miss his rare and special personality.
He was indeed " the best species of a human being" as mentioned in one of the condolences received.
