Obituary

Gary Gordon Klemick of 440 Park Avenue, Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on May 2, 1999. Gary was born on September 2, 1943 in Brandon. He is survived by his wife, Janice and his children; Shawna, Darcy and Michelle; brother Don, wife Glenda and family; Uncle Merrill Brandon of Vancouver and Aunt Winnifred Brandon of Carberry. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Klemick of Brandon. Rideau Park and East End Community Centre served as a focal point of Gary's early life. Countless hours of play turned him into an accomplished athelete. Gary played on many all-star teams and traveled throughout western Canada and the northern United States. These early sports interests turned into a life long passion for the interests of his children's sports and educational endeavors. His working career began with the Prince Edward Hotel and continued through Revelstoke and Cook Lumber and finally the Brandon Mental Health Centre. Gary worked at BMHC for 26 years and retired on December 2, 1998. Gary married Janice Sianchuk on June 9, 1977. Gary and Janice served for many years as "grandstand coaches and cheerleaders" for their children's sports, recreational and educational pursuits. They were proud parents of Michelle's prowess in curling, softball and badminton. Darcy's softball, curling and especially guitar playing, were a source of parental joy. Shawna's softball, 4-H and other interests brought many hours of "armchair" playing and coaching for both Janice and Gary. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at 7:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at 10:00 am. Celebrants will be Fr.
