It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Demanski at Brandon Regional Health Centre on September 30, 2026, at the age of 79. Gary was born on December 4, 1946, in Nesbitt, Manitoba, the son of Walter and Sheila Demanski.
Raised on the family farm just south of Brandon, Gary learned from an early age the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Gary married the love of his life Jean on September 2, 1967. Together they welcomed their eldest daughter Janell, followed by their son Jason, and youngest daughter Terry.
Gary dedicated more than 35 years of his working life to Modern Dairies, which later became Beatrice Foods. He took great pride in his work and the many years he spent as a part of their company. Outside of work, Gary was an active member of the Riverview Curling Club in Brandon. He enjoyed his years on the ice, proudly skipping his teams and sharing many memorable games, friendships, and good times along the way. Gary also had a true passion for classic cars, specifically his beloved 1970 Mercury Marauder.
Gary was no stranger to life’s challenges. He faced not one, but two battles with cancer – Beating it both times. Each diagnosis brought its own uncertainty, difficult days, and challenges, but Gary always met them head-on. His ongoing resilience was an inspiration to those who loved him and a testament to the strength of his character.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean; children, Janell (Eric), Jason, and Terry. Grandchildren Mikaila (Spencer) and great-grandchild Jace, or as Gary called him, “JR”. Gary is also survived by his brother Murray (Lynda) and children Stacey and Ryan. Predeceased by his father, Walter (2009) and mother, Sheila (2011).
A private family interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery.
