PENIUK: The death of Frieda Sadie Peniuk, beloved wife of John and loving mother of Gwen, occurred Saturday November 15, 2008 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Funeral service will be held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive, on Thursday November 20 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Dan Pope will officiate. PENIUK: Frieda Sadie Peniuk of Brandon, Manitoba, aged 64 years, passed away November 15, 2008 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit) after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Frieda was born February 16, 1944 at Swan Plain, Saskatchewan to parents Peter and Mary Thiessen. She attended Swan Plain School up until grade 8. Frieda moved to Brandon when she was 17. Frieda first worked at the Brandon Mental Health Centre. She was a family person who loved to participate and support her daughter, husband and grandchildren, spending numerous hours talking, listening, laughing, playing and giving lots of hugs. Frieda's brother and sisters would say she was the peacekeeper, making sure everyone was looked after and loved. She also loved gardening, shopping and looking after her younger sisters. Frieda then worked at Fairview Home Inc. for 27 years. She enjoyed her job, the people, and making great friends. Due to ill health, she was forced to retire early. Frieda married John Peniuk in May of 1989. Their lives were filled with love and happiness, both having God in their lives. Surviving Frieda are her husband John Peniuk; her mother Mary Thiessen; Daughter Gwen (Brian) Weenink; granddaughters: Thera and Tonya Weenink; Brother Arnold (Winnie) Thiessen; sisters: Thelma (Isaac) Fehr, Doris (Dave) Fehr, Eve Skinner, Lil Matsalla, Faye (Tom) Sillman, Elvy (James) Rink and many nieces and nephews. Frieda was predeceased by her father Peter Thiessen; brothers-in-law: Al Skinner, Frank Matsalla, Ted Burnell; sister-in-law Mary Thiessen; and by her first husband Joseph Chapman. Funeral services were held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, on Thursday November 20, 2008. Pastor. Dan Pope and assistant Earl Ricalton officiated. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Brian Weenink, Rodney Burnell, Sheldon Matsalla, Darren Barnes and Randy Ramsey. Donations in memory of Frieda may be made to a charity of choice. Peniuk: My family and I wish to thank all those who stood by us and offered support during our recent loss of my wife, mother, grandma (Frieda Peniuk). The visits, food, flowers, cards and phone calls were deeply appreciated. Special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Brandon Regional Health Centre, for their genuine compassion and expert care. Your kindness, thoughts and prayers helped us through this exceedingly difficult time. Always remembered in our hearts.
