ROE, Fred: Our dad, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2007 at his residence, Fairview Personal Care Home, at the age of 89 years. He is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Neal) Boyce and Diane (Don) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece, Elaine (Loren) Braun, two nephews Tom (Robyn) Wiebe and Tim (Eleanor) Wiebe and their families. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Fern Fraser. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice and two brothers, Noel and Stanley. Dad was born in Mottram, Cheshire, England on July 3, 1917 and came to Canada with his family at the age of nine. They settled on a farm near Neelin, Manitoba. He attended Huntly School with his two brothers. Dad met his wife, Bernice, through a newspaper ad and they were married in Wadena, Saskatchewan in 1953. They moved to Pleasant Valley where Dad worked on the farm. The next year twin daughters were born to them and they moved to Selkirk, Manitoba in 1956. He was active in church activities there for many years, serving on the board and as Treasurer. Dad worked as a milk processor at Lakeland Dairies for a number of years. When he retired, Mom and Dad moved to Brandon where they spent their retirement years enjoying their family and traveling. Dad joined Mom at Fairview Home in 2003 where they received excellent care in their "new home". Dad enjoyed visits from his family, his "church family" and friends. Dad had a deep and strong faith in the Lord and especially liked his visits with Pastor Ashbee. He passed on a deep heritage of faith to his family and grandchildren. The Ceremony to Celebrate Fred's Life will be held at Bethel Christian Assembly, 440 Richmond Avenue, on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Mike Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Fred to the Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, P.O. Box 62, Ninette, Manitoba R0K 1R0. Many thanks to the staff at Fairview for their wonderful care to Dad over the past three years. Even though Dad was a quiet and reserved man, he was always appreciative of his "nurses" and the care he received there. Thank you! Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
