Geysen

Fred Geysen
It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Fred J. Geysen. Fred was born on June 21, 1939 in Manor, Saskatchewan and passed away December 24, 2025 in Brandon, Manitoba.
Fred was born on a farm which started his life-long love of farming. At the age of 15 he moved to Baldur, Manitoba where he apprenticed with his uncle as a mechanic. He received his red seal at a young age, which was a great source of pride to him, and worked for his uncle as a mechanic for a few years after.
He met his future wife while living there, Pazga Gutowski. They were married in Selkirk, Manitoba and moved shortly after to Souris, Manitoba. While living in Souris they had a daughter Rosemarie.
A few years later he settled in Brandon with his family where he worked as a mechanic.
Following years of working at Murray’s Chev Olds and Metal Industries, Fred then earned his teaching certificate and taught mechanics and mathematics at Neelin High School and then Crocus Plains High School.
Upon retirement Fred purchased a small grain farm and was happiest while improving the land, seeding and harvesting and working on his farm equipment.
Fred had many passions. He loved antique cars and tractors, never missing an antique show if possible, hunting (swaging and casting bullets), fishing (making his own lures and winning awards for his fishing), making beautiful clocks for his family, researching his family history, listening to music and was an enthused reader. He also had a great sense of humour which will be greatly missed by his daughter.
Fred is survived by his daughter Rosemarie, son-in-law Stanley, grandson Alexander, granddaughter Kathleen and his sister Leona and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Pazga, parents Joe and Connie, brother Ron and brother-in-law Glenn.
We would like to thank Hillcrest Place staff for their wonderful care of Fred, Brandon General Staff (4th floor) and Dr. Igoh for their care and support for Fred and his family and the Assiniboine Hospital staff of 2nd and 3rd floor.
Fred was laid to rest beside his wife Pazga at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Manor, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Diabetes Canada, 1000-170 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 3B3.
