Obituary

The death of Ezilpha Farley occurred peacefully at her residence, Carberry Personal Care Home, Carberry, Manitoba on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. She was born November 9, 1904, at the Muirhead house near Douglas, Manitoba, the eldest of a family of seven to the late Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Farley. Ezilpha took her schooling years at Derry and Minnedosa, later entering Normal School at Brandon. Some of the schools she taught at were; MacGregor, Derry, Clinton and Douglas. In the late forties, she was instrumental in the organization of the Douglas Womens Institute, which has been active for over fifty years. She was a gifted person with her hands, knitting, tatting, quilting, which gave her great pleasure. She was still crocheting until her final days. Ezilpha leaves to mourn her passing; brothers, Earle (Jean), Roy, sisters-in-law, Gladys and Hazel and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by; her parents, brothers, Clayton and Basil and sisters, Gwen, Velma. She was also predeceased by; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann, Ruth and brothers-in-law, Murray Wilkie and Leonard Swalwell. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Jardine officiating. Pallbearers were: Garth Wilkie, Fraser Farley, Ian Farley, Grant Farley, Burke Farley and Blake Farley. Interment followed at the Madford Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ezilpha to the Douglas United Church, Douglas, Manitoba R0K 0R0 or to the Society for Children with Disabilities, 340 - 9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 6C2.
