Obituary

DAVIDSON: The death of Eugene Benvie "Jeep" Davidson, beloved husband of Frances, occurred at his residence, Rideau Park Personal Care Home on Monday, November 17, 2003. A time of visitation will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Wednesday (tonight) from 7:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Joan Jarvis of Central United Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Veterans section of the Brandon Cemetery. Complete obituary information will follow. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of "Jeep" to the Alzheimer's Society, 437-9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4A9 or to the charity of their choice. DAVIDSON: Eugene Benvie "Jeep" Davidson of Brandon passed away at his residence, Rideau Personal Care Home, on Monday, November 17, 2003. Eugene was born in Stellarton, Nova Scotia on October 25, 1926, the son of Roy and Mary Davidson. He obtained his education in Stellarton and in his early years of employment, he worked in the coalmines in Nova Scotia for 8 years. He then joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served for 26 years. During that time Jeep was posted in Egypt with the Peace Corps for 6 months and served in the Korean War. Upon retirement he continued to work at Shilo as a civilian for Base Supply as a driver and then doing various other jobs as assigned. He also worked at packing furniture, cleaning the airport and bartending. Jeep was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Big Brother and Sisters. He enjoyed hockey, playing darts, bowling and crafts. He will be remembered as "Santa Claus" and was always accompanied by "Frosty The Snowman". Jeep is survived by, his wife Frances; children Ken (Kathie), Carley (Chris) and Shirley (Rob); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by, three sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeep was predeceased by: his parents, four sisters, two brothers and infant twin sons. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, November 20, 2003. The Rev. Joan Jarvis of Central United Church officiated. Pallbearers were: Dan Connors, Dan MacKinnon, Nels Gray, Aran Burke, Jay Davidson, and Robert MacKinnon. Interment followed in the Veterans section of the Brandon Cemetery.
