Obituary

Etta Marie Prysiazniuk was lifted to eternal rest at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, with her children by her side, on Sunday, October 28, 2001. Etta was born in Poland on February 23, 1923 and immigrated to Canada with her parents, Charles and Stella Kotwicki, when she was six years old. The Kotwicki's homesteaded land in Renwer, Manitoba. There she met and married Michael Prysiazniuk and together they operated the family farm situated 8 1/2 miles northwest of Bowsman, where they joyfully raised their chosen children, Brian and Marcia. In 1977 Etta and Michael retired from farming and moved to Swan River. Due to ill health Etta had to be moved to Brandon, closer to her daughter. She resided at Rideau Park Personal Care Home since its opening. Etta was a very hard worker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to garden and was very well known for her huge vegetable and flower gardens. The smell of homemade bread, cinnamon buns and donuts filled their home on a daily basis. Etta's love of cooking, baking and entertaining, leaves fond memories of regular Sunday neighbourhood get-togethers, often hosted by Etta. She is survived by her son, Brian (Sylvia) Prysiazniuk of Douglas; Marci (Gregg) Campbell of Forrest; three grandchildren, Darrin, Ashley and Alyssa; two sisters, Lily of Hawaii and Betty of California; one brother, Chuck of California and several nieces and nephews. Etta was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Stella; her husband, Michael; sisters, Lynn of California and Josephine of Dauphin; and an infant son. The Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Humesville Cemetery with Barb Douglas officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Etta may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, B 727 - 10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4G7. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
