Obituary

Ethel Turner (nee Hainsworth) passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday February 17th, 2024.

Ethel was born on October 23, 1944, in Deloraine, MB.

Throughout her courageous battle with dementia, Ethel continued to shine as a beacon of strength, enveloped in the unwavering love and support of her family until her final moments.
After moving to Brandon in 1959, she graduated from Brandon Collegiate Institute in 1962. After graduating from High School, she began working at the TD bank in Brandon. In 1964 she met the love of her life Wes, and they married in 1966. They went on to have two sons Keith (1970) and Craig (1972).

Ethel was married to Wes Turner for over fifty-eight years, their enduring partnership was a testament to the deep bond they shared. Together, they built a cherished home in the RM of Elton, where Ethel's absence will be keenly felt.

Ethel is survived by her loving husband Wes, and her son Keith (Cary Turner) of Calgary. Her memory lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Cole, Noah, Hayden and Jacob. She is also survived by her beloved sister Kathleen McCourt. Ethel's pride in her family was unmistakable, and she cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Ethel is now reunited in eternity with her son Craig Turner and her parents Jim and Alice Hainsworth.

Ethel found pleasure in immersing herself in novels and solving puzzles. She enjoyed playing games with both friends and family, eagerly anticipating the cherished games nights held at home.

In addition to her devotion to family, Ethel found joy and fulfillment in tending to her garden, a reflection of her nurturing spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Her green thumb and passion for gardening brought her immense satisfaction and joy.

Ethel's family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Brandon Regional Health Center for their compassionate care during Ethel's final days.

The funeral service, scheduled for Friday, February 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba, will be a heartfelt occasion as loved ones gather to honor and celebrate Ethel's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 457 9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1K2, are encouraged, serving as a meaningful tribute to Ethel's journey and her courageous battle with dementia.

Ethel's legacy will endure through the cherished memories of those who knew and loved her. Her enduring spirit and profound impact on all who crossed her path will be remembered fondly. May she rest in peace, her legacy forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
