Obituary

ELMHIRST (BOAK): Esther Violet Elmhirst passed away at Riverview Personal Care Home on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Esther was born in Austin, Manitoba on August 19, 1917. She married John Boak and together they had four children. They resided in Portage La Prairie where she worked in a restaurant. They then moved to Castle Point. From there they lived in Carberry, where she worked at a bakeshop and then to Rivers, and worked at the IGA. Esther was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion. She enjoyed curling in her earlier years, and still loved watching the games on TV. Esther was predeceased by: her husband John Boak; daughter Irene Laming; son Jack Boak; granddaughter Yvonne Miller; two sisters and one brother. Esther is survived by her son Douglas Boak, daughter Joyce Jorgensen and their families. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel, on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiated. Pallbearers were Ray Drayson, Brad Boak, Darren Boak, Tony Miller, Andrew Inverarity, and Wayne Olson. Interment followed in the Rivers Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Esther to a charity of their choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.


ELMHIRST (BOAK): We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest and sincere thanks to family, friends and the Royal Canadian Legion (Rivers Branch) for their thoughtfulness and messages of sympathy in the loss of our beloved mother,(Gramma). A special thank-you to Vern Schneider and the staff of Memories Chapel for their kindness and words of comfort shown to the immediate family.
