ZIEMER: After a brief but dignified battle with cancer Erla Louise Ziemer passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Erla was born on June 14, 1949 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, the fourth of eight children born to Earl and Bonnee Garinger. She enjoyed skating lessons and watching her brothers play hockey on a skating rink her dad built on the front lawn every year for them. Erla graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of General Studies. She worked at the Brandon Friendship Centre for a few years before becoming a social worker at the Brandon Mental Health Centre. Erla also worked at Brandon Community Options while being employed with BMHC. She retired in 1994 following a stroke. Erla participated in the NDP Women's Association, sponsored children through Christian Children's Fund for almost 25 years, was a foster parent and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. Erla will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tracey Ziemer, Dean Ziemer and Tiffany Ziemer; grandchildren, Zachary Ziemer, Dylan Ziemer and Taylor Ziemer. She will also be greatly missed by: her mother, Bonnee Garinger; siblings, Leon Garinger, Dale (Kathy) Garinger, Allen (Sandra) Garinger, Keri Garinger, Marla (Walter) Niekamp, Luella (Doug) Nichol and numerous nieces and nephews. Her father, Earl Garinger and brother, Larry Garinger, predeceased her. A time of visitation was held at Memories Chapel on Sunday, December 4, 2005 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. The Funeral Ceremony was at Memories Chapel on Monday, December 5, 2005. Pallbearers were Tracey Ziemer, Tiffany Ziemer, Sara Jeffery, Christine Whitbread, Jean Zoner and Tamie Nichol.
