Ellen Mary "Nellie" (nee Gerrard) Kennedy passed away at Birch Lodge, Hamiota, Manitoba on Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Nellie was predeceased by her husband, George Gerrard in 1955; husband, Don Kennedy in 1983; grandson, Roy Nesbitt in 1971; son-in-law, Jerry Steski in 1995; daughter, Betty Nesbitt in 2000; and her brothers, Bill, Harry and Stan Neal. She is survived by her sons, Earl (Bernice) Gerrard and Jim (Eugene) Kennedy; daughters, Katherine (Glen) Findlay, Jean (Dave) Fraser, Elaine Steski and Dorothy (Bob) Franklin; son-in-law, Leonard Nesbitt; sisters-in-law, Lil Thomas, Margaret Cliffe, Mabel Neal, Lil Gerrard, Jean Findlay and Frances Irving; 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Nellie's life will be held at Hamiota United Church on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Curtis officiating. Following the service there will be a time of sharing memories during a reception in Chumah Hall. Interment will follow in Ancrum Cemetery.
