Obituary

SHADLOCK: The death of Elizabeth Mary (Betty) Shadlock, beloved wife of Nick, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Thursday, December 28, 2006. The family will receive friends at a visitation held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The Ceremony to Celebrate Betty's Life will be held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Barbara Jardine will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish, may make a donation in memory of Betty to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, 870 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 0P1 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 9Z9. SHADLOCK: Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Shadlock passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 28, 2006. Betty was born in Lyleton, Manitoba on June 12, 1925. She was raised on a farm near Lyleton with her three brothers: Jock, Bill and Bob. She attended Lyleton School until she was 16 years old. In 1946, she moved to Brandon where she met Nick Shadlock. Nick and Betty married in 1949. Betty worked at the Brandon Mental Hospital as a Nurses' Aide, McLeans Esso Garage and Restaurant in Douglas, Manitoba and was a farm wife and mom in Douglas from 1957. She belonged to the Lawrence Womens Group, United Church Women, Douglas WI, Douglas Ladies Curling Club, and Douglas Hall Committee. She partook in all Douglas community events and was a member of Douglas' 100th Anniversary Committee in 1982. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband Nick; sons: Derek (Sherry), Kevin, and Darcy (Donna); grandchildren: Melanie, Tabatha, Jessica, and Andrew. Sister-in-law Jeanette McMurdo and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Betty was predeceased by her parents John and Mary McMurdo; brothers Bob (Vi), Bill (Ede), and Jock. A time of visitation was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. The Ceremony to Celebrate Betty's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, January 3, 2007. Rev.
