Obituary

ROY: It is with sadness the family of Elizabeth "Beth" Andre Roy, of Brandon, announces that her death occurred on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born November 24, 1934 in Dunbar, E. Lothian, Scotland, Beth attended public school and in her earlier years she worked at a gift shop. She met her husband Don while he was playing with his pipe band at the Edinburgh Tattoo in August of 1952. They were married one year later in September 1953. They returned to Nova Scotia before moving to Oromocto, New Brunswick. Upon moving to Oromocto, Beth worked as a clerk at Reitmans, and owned and operated her own antique shop called "The Gozunda". While living in Brandon, Beth opened her home and was a caring foster parent from 1972 to 1980. Once her daughters were all grown up, Beth returned to work as a clerk at Donogh Antiques from 1986 to 2007. After losing her eyesight and being declared legally blind, Beth retired. She was an avid collector of antiques and collectables and loved her plants and flowers. Although visually impaired, Beth worked in her yard until she was no longer able. Left to cherish Beth's memory are her husband Don; daughters Heather (Ken) Petterson of Olds, Alberta and Donna Kiryliuk of Brandon; grandchildren David Petterson of Edmonton, AB, Josh Petterson of Drumheller, AB, Andrew Petterson of St. Paul, AB, Kyla Reid of St. Paul, AB and Shawn Kiryliuk of Edmonton, AB; great grandchildren Ziah, Jaxon, Talyn and Azen. She also leaves a brother David of New South Wales, Australia. She was predeceased by her parents Anderena and David Brunton, her brother Andrew and recently by her son-in-law, Bill Kiryliuk. The Ceremony to Celebrate Beth's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Lydia Glawson, Funeral Celebrant officiated.
