Obituary

KLAPP: Eleanor Muriel Klapp, of Brandon, passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, on October 4, 2012. Eleanor was born to Percy and Violet Scutt in Souris, Manitoba on October 30, 1925. She attended school in Glenella. Throughout her life, Eleanor worked as a housekeeper for families in McCreary, chef at Moosawa Dining Room in Clear Lake and Camp Wannakumbac, seamstress at JoAnne Shop in Brandon, and later in the fabric department at Woolco, where she made many wonderful friends. In October 1947, Eleanor married George F. Klapp and they were blessed with three children; Judith, Betty and Fred. They farmed in McCreary until 1958, when George joined the Warden Service for Parks Canada. With this career they lived in Gilbert Plains, Rossburn, Lake Audy, Clear Lake, and South Lake Warden Service. In 1979, after twenty-five years of service, George and Eleanor retired to Brandon. After George's passing in March of 2009, Eleanor remained in their retirement home until May of 2010. Then, Eleanor moved into Durum Place Apartments where she met her wonderful friends and neighbors. Eleanor belonged to the Knox United Church Women's Group, Woolco Ladies Luncheon Group, she was President of the Women's Institute, and a 4-H Club Leader. Eleanor was an avid chef, seamstress, and gardener. She loved roses, chocolate and her Kit Kat bars. She enjoyed being "grandma" to Jenna and Karah, knitting baby outfits for the Brandon Hospital and sewing for family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her children: Judith Klapp of Brandon; Betty Deegan (Dennis) of Calgary; Fred Klapp (Darcie) of Kelowna and a brother Jim Scutt of Red Deer, Alberta. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband George; sister Eva Law and brother Leslie Scutt. Cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Eleanor's Life was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7.
