Obituary

DAVIS: Edward Davis "Ed" passed away suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2000 at the age of 73. Ed was born and raised on the homestead in the Barrierford District of Saskatchewan. He received his schooling there. After school he farmed in the district while also being employed by C.N.R. In 1963 he moved to Manitoba where he met and married Lillian Beckett. He worked in the South Western part of the province til the fall of 1964 at which time he moved to Brandon to start raising his family with his wife. Ed worked at Wheat City Autowrecking til 1970 when he entered into construction by painting a neighbors house which led him to his own firm. Throughout the years no job was to small or to big, from replacing a door to a 24 suite apartment block. Ed's greatest pride was in his workmanship. He always said "that word of mouth was his best form of advertisement". In that his accomplishments were his greatest memorials of him throughout Brandon and surrounding area. Ed is survived by his wife Lillian of 37 years; his sons: John and David (Tammy); grandchildren: Anthony and Autumn. He is also survived by his brother Albert (Mabel) of Tisdale, SK and his sister Betty (Frank) of Portage. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Ed was predeceased by his parents; one older brother and two younger brothers. During his lifetime travel was a great enjoyment with his wife and family. After he retired he enjoyed winter vacations with his wife in Southern California. In his lifetime he survived two bouts of cancer. The ceremony to celebrate Ed's life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, August 19, 2000 with Arlene Robertson, pastoral associate of First Presbyterian Church officiating. All in attendance of the service were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ed may be made to a charity of one's choice.
