Obituary

BOWMAN: Edward Joseph "Ted". It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the peaceful passing of their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ted, on Monday, October 3, 2011. Ted was born on June 3, 1937 in the RM of Daly, the second son of Albert J. and Doris (nee Barker) Bowman. His first love was the farm and he looked forward to planting the crops each spring. Ted's second love was truck driving and he spent many years driving for Taylor & Son and later Redline Transport. During this time he rented out the farm land but always kept a watchful eye on the fields. Even though he drove many miles for work, Ted and Vi took numerous trips to Texas to visit Vi's sister and brother-in-law. They also travelled to British Columbia, Ontario, Colorado and Nevada. Upon retirement, Ted found that gardening with Vi and looking after the yard at the farm kept him very busy. In 2010, Ted and Vi moved to Rivers. They continued with their garden at the farm and had a small garden in town, sharing their bounty with anyone who wanted it. Ted is survived by his wife Violet; daughters Debbie (Morris) Mylrea, Heather (Blair) Evans, and Brenda (Fred) Veenbaas; grandchildren Devin and Tristen Mylrea, Kayla, Andrew, and Kelsey Evans, Jeff (Jessica) Veenbaas and Tarah (Rodi) Sveistrup; great-grandchildren Emily and Mackenzie Veenbaas and Benjamin and Joshua Sveistrup; brother Basil (Lesley) of Nanaimo, B.C.; sister Betty Kilback of Gabriola Island, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Ed and Lynn Bradley for being there for the family during Ted's brief illness. The family would also like to thank Dr. P. Sahni and the staff at Rivers Health Centre for their exceptional care and compassion at this difficult time. A family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care Unit, Rivers Health Centre, Box 428, Rivers, Manitoba, R0K 1X0 or Sun Fund for Kids, c/o 501 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0K4.

The Love of a family is Life's greatest blessings.
I cannot say goodbye to those I love,
For the Memories we've made will last a lifetime and never
Know a goodbye.
