STARKELL: With her family by her side, Edna Jean passed away peacefully at her residence, Fairview Home on Sunday, April 27, 2008. She was born May 23, 1922 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to Allen and Rita Thordarson. Edna was the oldest of four children. After living in Portage, Glenella, and Riding Mountain, she moved to Brandon where she met her husband to be, Peter Starkell. Together they had four children. Edna was a loving mother and homemaker to her family. She is survived by children: Lorraine (Gerry) Sproule, Murray (Eileen) Starkell, Leonard (Lesley) Starkell; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1988; her daughter Linda in 2001; her mother and father; brother Dave Thordarson and a sister Beanie Taylor. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, May 2, 2008. Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church officiated. Pallbearers were Marty and Rob Starkell, Duane Lang, Larry and Dave Taylor, and Garth Hurl. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
