Obituary

DYCK: Edmond James peacefully entered into eternal life, Tuesday, August 7, 2007. Edmond "Ed" was born November 6, 1922 to John and Agnes Dyck and from a young age, he loved farming. When he became of age, he joined the army and after serving his two years, returned home. Ed married the love of his life, Mary, in 1945, and took work on a farm in trade for room and board, and all the eggs you could eat. They then settled in Carman, Manitoba, where he took a job as a grader operator, then began trucking, which was to remain his primary occupation for many years. In 1962, Ed moved his family to Carberry where he managed the Carman, Carberry, Morden, Manitou transfer. There, he also began doing what he loved, farming. When the transfer changed hands, Ed began hauling cattle, a job he continued until his final days. Ed was a good man, always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family and friends were of utmost importance - in fact - PEOPLE, to Ed, were of infinite value. He loved to visit, get to know people and he could, and did converse with anyone. Ed walked with the Lord, and lived his belief everyday of his life and the world's loss, is truly, heavens gain. He is in a better place, yet all who knew him, know how lucky we were and will miss the man who considered everyone, a friend. Dad's adage was "We will only pass through this life once, so if there is some good deed I can do, some kindness I can show to someone, let me do it now and don't defer, for I may not pass this way again. Ed was predeceased by his parents John and Agnes; sisters Clara, Martha and Mary; brothers Johnny, Abe, Dave and Ray. Ed's gentle voice, his touch, his smile and his laughter will be missed by Mary, his wife of 62 years; his children Brian (Winnie), Ken (Harlene), Harley (Darlene), Marlaine Teall (Lloyd); grandchildren Shilo, Bree, Caleb, David, Gary, Shannon, Michelle, Trevor, Travis, Tara, and Tanner; great-grandchildren Jayme, Andrew, Jordan, Brianna and Robert. Ed is also survived by his sisters Helen, Hannah, Elda, Doris, and numerous niece, nephews, and cousins. The Ceremony to Celebrate Ed's Life will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, 409 Toronto Street, Carberry. Pastor Will Feldbusch will officiate. Interment will follow at the Carberry Plains Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Gideons or a charity of choice.
