The death of Edith May Birch, beloved wife of Cecil occurred on Saturday, December 8, 2001 in Brandon. Edith was born August 2, 1920 in Brandon, daughter of William and Alice Jackson. Edith received her education in the city, and on August 17, 1938 married Cecil Birch. Edith was a devoted wife and mother to her children and grandchildren. During their many years in Brandon Edith was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Baptist Women's Group, and was an active visitor on behalf of the church. Edith was a Mission Band Leader for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially her gladiolus. Edith leaves her loving husband, Cecil, son, Barry (Barbara) Birch; daughter, Barbara (Frank) Vic; two grandsons, David (Catherine) Birch and Robert (Maura) Birch; and one great granddaughter, Emily. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Douglas (Joyce) Birch of Winnipeg; nephew, Phlyp (Sandra) Birch; and niece Rosalie (Ed) Poloski. She was pre-deceased by her parents and infant brother, Ken, and her sister, Carys. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church, 3881 Park Avenue, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Funeral Ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Randy Stanton will officiate.
